What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a way of delivering health care services via information and communication technologies, while the patient is at the originating site (such as home or work) and the healthcare provider is at a distant site. Telehealth is not a distinct service. Rather, it is a way that providers deliver health care to patients that approximates in-person care. Crucially, the standard of care must remain the same, whether care is provided in-person or via Telehealth. To put it simply, telehealth services have to maintain the same level of care that the patient could expect to receive with an in-person appointment, but it offers the convenience of avoiding long waits and crowded offices!
How does Telehealth work?
Services will be provided through Microsoft Teams, which is a HIPAA compliant, synchronous platform. This allows the Behavior Technician or Supervisor to provide treatment services in a live, two-way interaction in real time. While providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) services via Telehealth, the treatment team will be able to provide immediate feedback and modify treatment protocols as necessary, just as they would if providing services in the client’s home. This application is available for Windows, iOS, and Android, and can be downloaded from their respective app stores. To participate in a session, the client family will need to grant access to the computer, tablet, or phone’s camera and microphone. Upon commencement of Telehealth services, training documentation on using Microsoft Teams will be provided to the family.
Do I qualify for Telehealth?
The Behavior Supervisor will get a parent report regarding the client by providing the client’s parent/legal guardian with a screening checklist of questions. Funding Sources and health plans will be also be reviewed and checked.
