Employee Spotlight: Micah Sutton
Every day as a parent is a challenge. Those words ring true for every new parent across the globe. When your child is born you are not given a set of directions. It is up to you as a parent to understand your child, their talents and what makes them different and special. When my son was born 11 years ago, he was the light of our world and we knew that our lives would never be the same.
Fast forward two years and he was diagnosed with Autism. Confusion, disbelief, and terror immediately set in. What do we do? How will be we be able to function as a family? How will he be able to function as an individual?
We immediately began to research and look for resources. That’s when we discovered applied behavior analysis.
We are thankful every day that ABA was introduced to us immediately after his diagnosis. We learned that not only were his gifts different than other children, but they were special and unique and are what makes our son Brody, Brody.
Not only did ABA have a profound impact on our family on a personal level, but it also had a lasting impact on us professionally. After working alongside some exceptional analysts as part of our son’s ABA team for nearly a decade, my wife and I learned a lot about various ABA techniques and procedures that were successful for our son. My wife went on to obtain her BCBA certification in 2019. Seeing the pure joy that she had working with these special children, I found myself wanting to get more involved. The more I researched ABA companies outside of our home state, the more I kept noticing one in particular. Behavior Frontiers has set itself apart from the pack as the leader in the industry for Applied Behavior Analysis. Their unique skill set is something that really stuck out to me. Whether it be the fact they are a clinically-led company focused on clinical excellence, have individualized treatment plans, proprietary curriculums, or their technology-enabled services with proprietary software, I had to get involved. In February 2021, I was fortunate enough to complete my journey and came to work for Behavior Frontiers. Never have I felt more of a sense of fulfillment on a professional level and cannot imagine working for a better company committed to providing the highest quality ABA services for children from coast to coast.
As parents, we remembered that just as when he was born, there are no directions to deal with this difficult challenge. With the guidance of his BCBA and registered behavior technicians, we were quickly able to understand our sons’ gifts, as well as his challenges that needed to be addressed and worked on.
Our goal is to make our son’s life as independent and wonderful as possible. And because of early intervention and the introduction of ABA therapy, he is doing just that.
